Work for Edmonton Nordic’s new AltaGas Ski at School Program got underway in September 2016. "We applied for vendor approval with the Edmonton Catholic School Board, which we received October 26, 2016" stated Kristina Givens, who is the Edmonton Nordic coordinator for the AltaGas Ski-at-School program. The club already had vendor approval with the Edmonton Public School Board.

The Ski at School Program was advertised by visiting junior high schools and speaking with principals and physical education teachers. A few options were offered: ski on school property, ski at Gold Bar Park where there is regular grooming and snowmaking, or a combined day of downhill and cross country skiing at Edmonton Ski Club (downhill).
